Dallas Russell | Easily Amused

Published by Molly Call on 09 Mar 2010 | No Comments

Inspired by variety, Dallas never makes the same thing twice. She loves to sew and embroider; she dabbles in crocheting, she beads and makes jewelry. So hurry, hurry, hurry, step right up and get your ticket for the imagination contortionist and all of her wonderful oddities. Easily Amused gifts are intended for the frequently exuberant, the blatantly giddy, the often nostalgic and, of course, the easily amused. If you miss the attention to detail of yesteryear Dallas is your gal; her one of a kind creations are great to have and share.

I’m a fan of fabric, and I love giving previously used fabrics new form and a new life. I’m turning beautifully colored (but no longer fashionable) wool sweaters into jewelry, headbands, bags, and other fun wearables and accessories.

I love stained glass and the light/color it brings to a room-but since it isn’t practical for us all to have a cathedral window in our house, I try and make fun and versatile items so it is possible for anyone to enjoy glass!

We mke a variety of items including, bottlecap necklaces, diaper and wipe holders, childrens tutus, wands, crowns, hair accessories, and bags. We also make christmas ornaments and decorations, and what ever else seema to be inspiring us at the time. We do this because we have so much fun creating our items, and the only thing more fun than creating is sharing them with others.

Create = Be Happy…simple but true for me. I paint gourds and anything that I can. I love what I do! All my creations are one-of-a-kind originals and all pieces are signed and dated. My studio is in my home and it is filled with all those I love most. Holidays are my favorite times of the year so I paint pieces that celebrate them. Delight fills me each year when I unpack each creation as the holidays roll around. The gourds make me smile; I hope they make others smile too. Visit me here…

I enjoy upcycling , creating new uses for old items. I have created several designs for what would be trash. The Animal Fairy ornaments are approximately three to six inches high, digitally reproduced, surreal , mixed media collage, which are laminated with beaded wire hangers. The smaller fairies (not laminated) make excellent gift tags. Soda cans and discarded cardboard cutout design push pins & magnets. Soda cutout designs for a pair earrings. Cardboard boxes become eco-sensitive gift tags, blank on one side. I find inspiration in daily life as well as an assistant art teacher for 1-8 graders.

I love the process of creating with glass. I especially enjoy trying to design things–whether it’s a window, a pendant, or a vase–so that the glass “fits” the piece. I am fascinated by the subtleties and range that glass provides as an artistic medium.
