Samantha Kelly | Can You Hear Me?

Published by Molly Call on 08 Mar 2010 | No Comments

When I was little, I would ask my mom to draw me pictures of ‘merdalmations’ (dalmation + mermaid tail). Since then I’ve graduated from byu in visual arts and am now teaching stress management at UVU and practicing art therapy at the U of U hospital. Art is a form of communication and this is my visual language. Can you hear me?

Eva & Friends | Sycamore Street Press

Published by Molly Call on 08 Mar 2010 | No Comments

Sycamore Street Press is the full-time family business of Kirk and Eva Jorgensen. We are dedicated to combining fresh designs, sustainable methods, and the vintage charm of letterpress printing. We collaborate with a few of our friends to create the designs for our cards, posters, gift tags, frame mats, fortune tellers, etc… Then Kirk and I crank each item through our Vandercook press by hand to achieve the texture and impression that letterpress is known for. We love the creative, collaborative nature of our work and we love sharing the beauty of letterpress with others!

I focus on art cards and prints created from my illustrations and paintings, but also use my “girls” to make art dolls, hairpins, pendants and other things. I’ve been working the last little while to even further improve my giclée prints (new pretty paper!) and make available BIGGER print sizes (I’m so excited!). I hope to bring many new designs and not-yet-seen prints to the spring show.

This year I am making lots of framed paintings of fish and birds. I also have made a series of wooden bird puzzles (which I don’t have a photo of at the moment). I will have some letterpress items with my art on them as well, and hopefully some little felted animals.
